Hard to believe this was just a little more than a week ago:
And what is this lurking beneath the carpet?
Could it be ...

Freya, trapdoor spider!
And some other random images from the past few weeks:

So I think we're done with new vehicles for a good, long while ... behold, a man and his new 2007 Wrangler X!
Yay!! We got an excellent deal trading in his 2002 Liberty, and now we both have vehicles that are under warranty. Good times. :)

Sold our Jeep this morning!! Woo hoo! The people buying it live in Tennessee (about 300 miles from us), so they might not actually come get it until next weekend. But they're going to get the cashier's check in the mail today. :D Scratch that ... they'll be here tonight to get it! Which means I just spent the last hour removing all the bumper stickers. Whew. A hairdryer works wonders for that! Now I'm off to have it washed ...

We are now the proud owners of this:
It's a Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4. Woo! Yes, I actually traded in my beloved Honda Civic Hybrid. It was starting to do a few weird things, and had a couple of quirks that I expect were related to that unfortunate Civic-vs.-LargeGoddamnedDeer event back in late 2004. My windshield never seemed to be seated correctly after that, so I suspect things might have been slightly askew. It was a fabulous vehicle, though ... I highly recommend the Civic Hybrid to anyone looking for a hybrid car. I put 55,000 miles on it, and it still ran great and gave me about 50 mpg, on average.
Anyway, I was doing a lot of price-shopping online, and I found a dealership in Pennsylvania (about 120 miles from us) that was offering an Escape Hybrid 4x4 for about $5,000 less than all the dealerships around here, plus it had only 8,500 miles on it, whereas the other more local ones had anywhere from 18K to 22K miles. When I called the dealer yesterday I immediately asked what was wrong with it, ha ha. Turns out there's nothing wrong with it -- it has a clean history. They just do bottom-line pricing at that dealership, so I got a GREAT deal. The blue book value on this Escape Hybrid is about $11,000 more than we paid ... yes, really: $11,000. I didn't slip an extra zero in there. They gave me a bit less for my Honda than I would have gotten here, but not enough to make up the $5K difference, let alone $11K, if I had gone to a more local dealership. It's a 2006, and it only has 8,500 miles on it. And an in-dash 6-CD changer! You know I loaded it up already. :D
So now we're selling our Jeep Cherokee Classic -- we don't need it anymore now that both Michael and I have 4x4 vehicles. So if you know anyone in our area (Winchester, VA) that wants a really nice 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic V6 4x4 for $4500, let me know. I'm listing it on Autotrader.com -- as soon as the ad is live, I'll post a link.
