I've started my new job, and I love it! :) The 12-hour workdays take some adjustment (particularly in the foot area!), but I'm getting there. :) I think I have what my friend Sonja calls my "retail legs" back, ha ha! My schedule goes something like four days on, three days off, two days on, five days off. And I'll have every Tuesday AND Wednesday off with Michael! :) Plus I'm also off every Monday, so I won't have to miss my firestation nights. Yay! I'm so happy!!

My commute is so much easier, too. And this change was a 65% decrease in the amount of miles I was driving each week! Yes, seriously. My poor car! At least I don't have to worry about driving it into the ground within two years, as I probably would have. Besides, the Virginia legislature isn't going to renew hybrid vehicle drivers' HOV privileges when they expire in July of 2006; apparently the incentives did better than expected, and the HOV lanes are getting more crowded with hybrids. Heh.

Still enjoying our house ... not enjoying the price of heating fuel, though. Blech. Seriously considering a home equity line of credit in late spring/early summer to have central heating and air installed. We have radiator heat and no central A/C, so it would really increase the value of the home, make it cheaper to heat and cool, and it would be more comfortable!! The downside is that we don't have any existing ductwork, but hopefully we wouldn't have to give up too much ceiling space for that; I love our high ceilings! We do have a lot of crawlspaces and closets where they could run the ducts, too. We'll have to see.

Off to have some dinner and watch a movie ...
