I've had a lot going on here lately ... starting with ...
We're moving! :) Michael and I are buying a house in Winchester. Pictures are here. Yes, it did happen very quickly ... which is surprising! Our house was on the market for less than a week, and we ended up with two offers. Back in 2002, the house had sat on the market for more than 30 days with no offers. Heh. The market is getting a little speedier in the boonies, it seems. In any case, I accepted one of the offers on Saturday. Of course, me being me, I found the new place before our place sold ... I always do things backwards like that! The woman selling us the new place is very sweet she had received a few offers already, but didn't want to sell the place to anyone who didn't absolutely love it. I absolutely loved the house, of course. :) So she accepted our offer after meeting me, and then after meeting Michael. She thought we were a cute couple with nice tattoos. ;)
The move adds maybe 6 miles to my commute, but it's much more of a straight shot to get there, so it takes a bit less time. No unpaved roads! :) The new house is located in Winchester's Historic District, just a couple blocks north of the walking mall/downtown area. I love it! I've realized that I really do prefer older homes homes with character. The new one is less than a mile from the shop, so Michael's commute goes from 25 miles to 0.9 miles. Yay! And we can also get high-speed internet, which means I can telecommute a second day each week. Woo hooooooooo! I'm leaning towards cable internet right now, but we also have the option of getting DSL. We shall see. :)
Closing is tentatively scheduled for April 28, so in theory, we'll be living in the new place in slightly more than three weeks! Wow.
One bummer I can't really justify keeping my Land Rover. I won't need four-wheel drive anymore, really, and gas prices are going so high. *sigh* I love that Rover, though. Not sure what to do. Will have to think more about it. I really think the smart thing to do would be to get a Honda Civic Hybrid or a Toyota Prius.
Other than that, it's been the usual ... we've gone to see some movies Hellboy and Dawn of the Dead. I liked both of them a lot! Work has been uber-busy ... I think I've designed four new websites for our intranet in just the last week, in addition to the other marketing materials I've had to create/update. Whew. I'm taking off the last week of this month for all the packing-settlement-moving fun, and I'm looking forward to a week off of work! :)
