I worked at home today (working on a huge Air Force publication), and Michael and I went to the Frederick County animal shelter when I took a lunch break. So of course, we came home with ...

    Ashe!

Ashe giving Michael kitty kisses ...

    Handsome guys. :)

Ashe is a neutered male, and was a stray. Not sure how old he is, but probably anywhere between 4 and 6 years old. Isn't he sweet? :) I still miss Kitty, of course, but it also felt good to give this guy a home.

Miss Kittyhawk has been pretty sick for the past three days, and then she couldn't even get up this morning ... she'd just fall over when she tried. So with a heavy heart, I called Dr. Sullivan and made an appointment, knowing what was coming. Michael and I took her in just before noon, and Dr. Sullivan confirmed what I already knew — Kitty's little body was already shutting down. I didn't even need to put her in her carrier to take her in ... I just wrapped her in a blanket, and she didn't protest.

I think it was more difficult to see her ailing the last couple days than it was to let her go, in the end. I'm just glad she's not suffering anymore.

I'm participating in this: Skin. I think it's such a cool concept. I haven't gotten my word yet, but I'll post pictures of the finished product. :) It'll be a few weeks.

Things are going really well here ... my dad was here for a visit last week, and he really liked Michael. :) I knew he would! We re-did the floor in Michael's office — ripped out the carpet and put in vinyl tile. Well, he and my dad put in the tiles, but I helped rip the carpet out, and Michael and I completely re-painted the walls. Then I painted the baseboards after we put them back in. It looks really great, and Michael's very happy with it.

A big happy birthday to my stepfather, Mike, and also to Karen! :)

I'll probably have some pictures to post soon. This morning when I was getting ready for work, Michael was in the kitchen loading the dishwasher, and he called me to come in there to see a deer standing up on little flat plateau just above the house — it was actually a buck, with good-sized horns. I managed to take one digital picture, but I don't know if it came out. We'll see. :)

    Happy Friday!
