I'm still having cornea issues in my left eye. I'm using some steroid drops and I'm still stuck wearing my glasses. *grumble* I haven't worn glasses full-time since fourth grade, with the exception of those few months in high school when I had problems with neovascularization in my eyes. Sheesh. I just need to get Lasik and get it over with!
I've rode on the medic unit for the past two days; managed to finish up five more calls, so now I only have seven left. Yay!! Very exciting. :) The medic I rode with for those two days is very good, but he's not easy on people; he's sent students out of the station crying. LOL. But he said that I'm doing a good job and that I'll be a good medic ... it really made my day. :)
Had a weird flare-up with my navel piercing. Last Sunday it just got really tender/inflamed/ouchie. It's been healed for nearly six friggin' years. It was very frustrating! So I changed out the curved barbell to another one, and that seemed to help, but not really. So I finally took a circular barbell out of my ear and put it in the navel piercing ... it was almost instantly better. Weird. I guess the shape of the curved barbells was too elongated. I was pierced with a CBR and wore that for six years, so I guess my piercing likes a rounder shape. *shrug* Whatever! I'll just keep this jewelry in it. So much for those pretty curved barbells!
My nostril piercing is doing great it seems healed, although I know cartilage can be finicky and just seem healed, so I'll continue to be gentle with it. I put in my blue-green titanium nostril screw last night. I love it. :) I wear a "freckle" screw when I'm on the medic unit, but I won't be back on until Monday, so I thought I'd try a bit of variety.
I go back to work on Tuesday. Eeep! I'd better go in early, just in case things are crazy. Monday night I'll be on the medic unit again ... I do want calls, but please, none after 2 a.m. or so!

How cool is this? My friend Jewel moved to Seattle a couple of years ago, and we'd lost touch. I got an email from her last night after she came across my site, and she is working as a professional belly dancer! LOL. I found that quite funny, considering my current obsession with belly dance. :) She has a website here: www.raqsjawahir.com. She looks gorgeous, doesn't she? :) She's getting married to her longtime guy, Erik, at the end of June. I hope they have a lifetime of happiness and good drum music. *g*

Yesterday we went to see X2 (that's the second X-Men movie, for those of you who might not know). It was great even better than the first one, and how often can you say that about a sequel? Wow!
I also had an appointment with my eye doctor. I'm still having issues from when I punctured my cornea a few months ago. I think there might be a bit of scarring on the cornea, and it's affecting my glasses prescription. However, my contacts work fine. *shrug* So I'm in my glasses for now to allow my corneas to relax (gas permeable contacts push them out of shape a bit), and then I go see the eye doc again tomorrow to get a more accurate prescription and see how my cornea looks. I'm pushing for medically-necessary laser eye surgery. LOL. Good one, right? Anyway, I need my glasses to work for me because I'm not even going to try wearing my contacts during Tour de Friends! Apparently we on the med crew don't get much (any?) sleep, so glasses will be better for my eyeballs.
And the big thing yesterday: my graduation ceremony! Blood (often not mine, LOL), sweat, and tears went into this degree, so I attended the ceremony. Cap and gown and Doc Martens. :) It took forever! We got there a little before 6 p.m. and didn't leave until nearly 10. Ah well. It was fun.
And one more bit of bragging ...
I found out by reading the graduation program that I graduated summa cum laude ("with highest honors"), courtesy of my 3.8 GPA. Woo hooo! Yes'm, I am a nerd. :D

Check your email, Mom! Your Mother's Day gift should be there soon. :) I love you!
So I re-did the layout of my site, as you can see ... it was quite silly to have all those things on separate pages. Plus I'll probably be more likely to update this blogger if it's front and center. :)
Sleep, glorious sleep! I went to bed a little before 1 a.m., and woke up at 9, fully intending to get up ... and then I fell back asleep until noon. But with this past week (working until 11 p.m. [and 12:30 a.m. one night!] almost every night), I needed it. I can be okay with sleep deprivation for a day or two, but an entire week ... something's gotta give!
I started my advanced beginner belly dance class yesterday. I adore my instructor! She had said that she was only going to be doing the Saturday class if she got at least five people, but only Erin (another regular) and I registered. But she's holding the classes anyway. She said it's because she likes us, and because we're doing really well. Awwww! That rocks. :)

I graduate on Tuesday I'll have my AAS in Emergency Medical Technologies. Yay! My second AA degree. I'll get a Bachelors one of these days!
I'm also trying to get my internship finished in time to take the National Registry Paramedic test at the end of June. I was finally told that I could finish my internship at the station in Front Royal, since Fairfax was still not allowing ride-alongs. This is much better I wanted to be able to do my internship out here all along, but I had been told that the county had to have a contract with the school. When Fairfax shut us out, the school was desperate enough to allow it. So it all turned out for the best not only do I get to ride and do my internship where I'm actually volunteering, but I'm finally getting to meet the people at my station. :) I like 'em! They're no-bullshit people. It's refreshing. LOL.
I'm on vacation from work for the next two weeks. Woo hooo! I'm sleeping in on Monday. :)
Happy Mother's Day to my mom. You're the best, and I love you! I'll bet you never thought I'd say that when I was 16 and we didn't get along one bit. Hee hee!
