Finally got some sleep after a nonstop couple of weeks yay! With an extra hour thrown in because of the time change. :)
Spent all of yesterday doing my internship at Station 5 in Franconia things were fairly busy. The first call came as we were sitting down to eat a big brunch. LOL. Typical! Anyway, the goal of the paramedic internship is to progress from participating in a call to being the lead medic. So during our last call (which came at 9:55, five minutes before I had to leave ha!), my preceptor looked at me and said, "It's all yours! Go to it!" LOL. Eeek! I did fine, though. Yay!!
Last weekend was spent in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training, which I successfully passed. Woo hooo!
On today's agenda: absolutely nothing. :)
A special note: welcome to the world, Holly Anne Lofton! My stepsister, Traci, had her baby on October 15. Holly weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 19 3/4 inches long. Way to go! Isn't she cute? :) After spending Friday night in Labor and Delivery at Fairfax and seeing two births, I have a whole new respect for mothers!

This evening includes:
- Diet Vanilla Coke, hurrah!!! I can't drink regular, it's too damn sweet.
- Movies to view, including The Scorpion King, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Dragonfly, and The Musketeer.
- A fire in the fireplace. :)
I'm off tomorrow no work, no school! A miracle. I finally got hooked up with a preceptor for my paramedic internship, and he sounded really nice. I'll go to the station and meet him and his partner on Tuesday. Wooo hoooo!
My dad called me this morning; my grandfather is in the hospital because he had to have his lower right leg amputated. :( My grandpa has Type 2 Diabetes, and the circulation in his legs has been poor for the past couple of years. He got a sore on the right lower leg last year, and it just never healed. Poor guy; he's going to be 88 next year, so I'm worried. But my dad said he's doing great, is in little pain (which has the doctors stumped oh good grief, no pun intended!), and has his appetite back already. But I'm still worried. *sigh*

Went to a friend's wedding outside Baltimore last night. Had a great time!
Kelly and Nicole (Kelly is a guy, before anyone gets confused, heh) had their wedding at Maryvale Castle it was gorgeous! Everything went really well. :) After getting slightly lost in Baltimore (it's been a while since I've been there!), we finally got home a little after 2 a.m. Whew!!!
I don't have to work Monday. Yay Columbus.

My eye is better. :) My vision was much better (still not great) when I woke up Tuesday, and I had a follow-up with the eye doc yesterday. She said it's looking better, and I have another appointment tomorrow. At least it's healing! Everything is still a bit blurry out of my left eye, but at least I can see letters now on the eyechart the first day I could only read the huge "E" at the top. Pathetic!
In other news, my car is sooooooo clean. I took it in for 15,000 mile maintenance yesterday morning, and they had to wash it more than once to get all the mountain dust off of it. LOL.

When my alarm went off this morning at 5 a.m., I opened my eyes and immediately felt a sharp, stabbing pain in the left one. I had something nasty in my eye. :( So I stumbled into the bathroom and flushed my eye with saline. Ouch, ouch, ouch. I was half-awake, dumping saline all over myself and the sink with my nose running like crazy. LOL. Not pretty.
So I flushed whatever it was out, but my eye was so swollen that I couldn't see out of it. (At least I thought that was the problem...) I had to wear my glasses today because there was no way I was going to get my contact lenses in. Today's commute was NOT good. No depth perception! Heh. But I thanked my right eye for existing and being functional during the drive. LOL.
Then the swelling went down, but my vision didn't improve. Uh-oh. So I went to see my eye doctor this afternoon, and it turns out that I have a HOLE in my cornea! Lovely. My eye doc looked at my eye with that spiffy bright light contraption, and said, "Wow, yeah, I can see why that hurt, and why you can't see." LOL. She said the hole is right smack in the middle of my eye, and that it's perfectly round. Ha ha. Anyway, she gave me some antibiotic eyedrops and I have a follow-up appointment tomorrow afternoon. It should heal up within 24 to 48 hours.
Happy Monday! LOL. You just gotta laugh, and be glad a sniper didn't take me out during rush hour. Sheesh.
