I succumbed to retail desires in a moment of weakness and bought a laptop — an HP ze1110 notebook. I've been looking at it for a couple of weeks now, and then the HPShopping site was actually sold out of the refurbished ones. :( So I found one on eBay, and it was even a little less! Woo hoo! Now I can officially be a computer nerd. LOL.

James is making waffles. Mmmmmmmm. :)

    How's this for strange?

I got a call yesterday from Kathleen George, who is involved with the Property Owners of Shenandoah Farms LLC, which is the homeowner's group where we live. She said she went to pull the new deeds for the subdivision, and she noticed that our deed mentioned another lot, Lot 710, in addition to our main lot where our house is, 749-A. She tells me that 710 is another half acre, located across Joan's Quadrangle (our road) from our property. I get my copy of the deed out, and lo and behold, it's mentioned on the deed; it just went over our heads during settlement, I guess. (We were tired. LOL)

So I called our closing attorney's office and spoke with Vicki, the paralegal. She got a little upset (not at me — just because she thinks she goofed up the deed), but said she'd look into it, saying that she probably put it on there by mistake.

Well, today she called James to give him an update — she spoke with the seller's realtor today, and he confirmed that yes, that lot (710) was owned by the seller and was intended to convey along with the main lot (749-A). Wow! So we have another half acre of land that we didn't know about. LOL. Vicki is going to call the title insurance people because our title insurance only names lot 749-A (she's not sure why, since the other lot was supposed to convey as well), so we might have to pay a little more for title insurance for the other lot. Or it might get covered under the current title insurance, since it was supposed to be included in the whole deal.

Either way, it's pretty cool. :)

So I've started using Blogger to update this page. I was doing it all manually, but that was getting silly. :) It seems to work really well!

Saturday we went to Noah's Ark, the local pet store that also carries spiffy garden statuary. So of course, we picked up some neat stuff (link to pictures at end of entry). It's a great pet store — we'll probably go get some new fish there soon.

We also bought a new bookcase at Home Depot yesterday; they have 72" bookcases for only $49. We already had two, and they are pretty sturdy for that price. James also bought a chainsaw! Be afraid! Ha ha. Actually, the funniest thing was this one brand of chainsaw — "Wild Thing." Who in the hell wants a chainsaw called the Wild Thing? You're likely to lose a limb! LOL. We also bought some more small bookcases and shelves and whatnot today at K-Mart. I also got some spiffy new sandals at Peebles — they're Sketchers, and they're so nice! I don't like dainty sandals — I need stompy ones. My summer boots. Hee hee.

Here are the latest pictures: Click here. I got to use a really nice digital camera for all these; we got a new Minolta at work, and I brought it home over the weekend to learn how to use it. 4 megapixels! Yay! Nice. :)
